Getting Started with Local AI in Your Browser
Published on: 2024-01-15
Running AI entirely in your browser is now possible—no cloud, no subscriptions.
What is Local AI?
Local AI means running artificial intelligence models directly on your device, rather than sending your queries to remote servers. This approach offers several key benefits:
- Complete Privacy: Your conversations never leave your device
- Completely Free: No subscriptions, no monthly fees, unlimited messages, and unlimited chat history
- Offline Capable: Works even without an internet connection (after initial model download)
- Fast Responses: No network latency means instant replies
How Does It Work?
WebGPU lets browsers use your GPU directly, so you can run models right in Chrome without extra software.
Requirements
To use NoAIBills, you’ll need:
- A modern GPU (NVIDIA, AMD, or Apple Silicon)
- Chrome browser with WebGPU support
- At least 8GB of RAM (16GB recommended)
Getting Started
- Install the Extension: Add the extension from the Chrome Web Store
- Download a Model: Choose from various AI models based on your needs and hardware
- Start Chatting: Open the side panel and start asking questions!
The first time you use the extension, it will download the AI model to your device. This is a one-time process that may take a few minutes depending on your internet speed.
What Can You Do?
With local AI in your browser, the possibilities are endless:
- Get help with coding and debugging
- Write and edit content
- Analyze documents and data
- Learn new topics with an AI tutor
- And much more - all while keeping your data private!
Next Steps
Install the extension and start chatting—all processing stays in your browser.
